Chapter 5 I Like Playing Balap Karung merupakan salah satu bab dalam pembelajaran Bahasa Inggris untuk kelas V sekolah dasar Kurikulum Merdeka. Tujuan pembelajaran kali ini adalah setelah mempelajari materi pada bab ini, siswa diharapkan mampu mempelajari tanggal dan bulan dalam bahasa Inggris dan membuat tanggal dan bulan dalam bahasa Inggris.

Dalam bahasa Inggris, penulisan tanggal menggunakan angka ordinal atau angka yang menunjukkan urutan. Rumus penyebutan angka ordinal ini ditambahkan dengan st pada setiap angka yang berakhiran 1, nd untuk setiap angka yang berakhiran 2, rd setiap angka yang berakhiran 3, dan th pada angka lainnya. Contohnya : 1st (First), 2nd (Second), 3rd (Third), 4th (Fourth), 5th (Fifth), 6th (Sixth), 7th (Seventh), 8th (Eighth), 9th (Ninth), dan 10th (Tenth)

Terdapat dua jenis penulisan tanggal dalam bahasa Inggris, yakni gaya American dan British. Berikut ulasannya.
  1. American style. Untuk penulisan tanggal menggunakan American style, format yang digunakan adalah Month-Date-Year (MM-DD-YYYY). Jika ingin menambahkan hari, kamu bisa menambahkannya di depan bulan. Contoh: July 10th, 2023
  2. British style. Dalam penulisan tanggal dalam bahasa Inggris dengan British style, format yang digunakan adalah Date-Month-Year (DD-MM-YYYY).  Jika ingin menambahkan hari, kamu bisa menambahkannya di depan tanggal. Penulisan tanggal British jarang sekali menggunakan koma.

The Elephant is The Biggest merupakan salah satu bab dalam pembelajaran Bahasa Inggris pada kelas lima sekolah dasar Kurikulum Merdeka. Tujuan pembelajaran kali ini adalah setelah mempelajari materi pada bab ini, siswa diharapkan mampu mempelajari bentuk superlative degree dalam bahasa Inggris, membuat kalimat superlative dalam bahasa Inggris.

Superlative Degree merupakan bentuk tingkat perbandingan ketiga atau yang paling tinggi dalam bentuk perbandingan dalam bahasa Inggris. Bentuk perbandingan ini merupakan bentuk perbandingan untuk menyatakan tingkat paling atau ter-. Misalnya paling kuat, paling pintar, terhebat, terbaik, terburuk, dan lain sebagainya.

Bentuk Superlative Degree diikuti beberapa aturan terkait bentuk kata sifat (adjective) atau bentuk kata keterangan (adverb). Terdapat dua bentuk Superlative Degree yang digunakan, yaitu the –est dan the most.

The Giraffe Is Taller Than The Deer merupakan salah satu bab dalam pembelajaran Bahasa Inggris pada kelas lima sekolah dasar Kurikulum Merdeka. Tujuan pembelajaran bab ini adalah setelah mempelajari materi pada bab ini, siswa diharapkan mampu mengidentifikasi bentuk comparative degree dalam bahasa Inggris; membuat kalimat comparative degree dalam bahasa Inggris.

Comparative degree adalah suatu cara untuk membandingkan sesuatu dalam bahasa Inggris. Comparative degree berfungsi untuk membandingkan perbedaan antara dua objek. Objek yang dimaksud bisa berupa makhluk hidup maupun benda mati, yang dimodifikasi seperti lebih besar, lebih kecil, lebih cepat, lebih tinggi, dan lain-lain.

Terdapat tiga jenis degreee of comparison. Dalam membandingkan dua hal, tidak hanya comparative tapi juga akan menemukan degree of comparison untuk positive, dan superlative. Jika, pada comparative menggunakan tambahan "er" dalam adjective-nya, maka untuk membentuk superlative kata sifatnya ditambahkan dengan "est". 

Adapun dalam membentuk comparative dan superlative, bentuknya akan tergantung pada jumlah suku kata (syllables) dalam kata sifat aslinya. Penambahan imbuhan pada adjective juga harus memperhatikan, apakah kata sifat tersebut termasuk bentuk regular verb atau irregular verb.

Chapter 2 How Tall Are You?

"How Tall Are You?" adalah unit 7 dalam buku Bahasa Inggris Kurikulum Merdeka kelas 5 SD. Biasanya kata tall ini diterapkan untuk orang, pohon, bangunan, dan beberapa hal yang dianggap lebih tinggi dari pada yang lain. Tujuan pembelajaran kali ini adalah setelah mempelajari materi pada bab ini, siswa diharapkan mampu: mengidentifikasi adjectives dalam bahasa Inggris; membuat adjectives dalam bahasa Inggris.

Jika diartikan secara harfiah, kata “tall” berarti tinggi dan termasuk dari jenis kata sifat atau adjective. Nah, “tinggi” yang dimaksud pada “tall” adalah panjangnya benda dari dasar sampai puncaknya. Artinya, kata “tall” bisa digunakan untuk mendeskripsikan benda maupun orang yang ramping, menjulang, dan tidak lebar. Misalnya, “Tall woman”, “Tall tree”, “Tall pillar”, “Tall giraffe”, dan lain sebagainya.

Pada pembahasan materi Bahasa Inggris kelas v kurikulum merdeka semester 2 yakni Parts of Our Body That Work Together artinya bagian tubuh yang bekerja sama. Tujuan pembelajaran kali ini adalah peserta didik mengidentifikasi kosakata terkait dengan tubuh dalam bahasa Inggris; mengidentifikasi fungsi tubuh dalam bahasa Inggris; dan mengidentifikasi bagian bagian tubuh yang bekerja bersama-sama.

Berikut ini adalah part yang ada di kepala manusia: Face: Wajah, Hair: Rambut, Forehead: Dahi, Eyes (Plural): Mat, Eyeball: Bola mata, Eyebrows (Plural): Alis, Eyelash: Bulu mata, Eyelid: Kelopak mata, Temple: Pelipis, Ears (Plural): Telinga, Earlobe: Daun telinga, Nose: Hidung, Nostril: Lubang hidung, Mouth: Mulut, Lips: Bibir, Teeth (Plural): Gigi, Tongue: Lidah, Cheeks (Plural): Pipi, Chin: Dagu, Jaw: Rahang, Mustache: Kumis, Beard: Jenggot, Adam’s apple: Jakun, dan Neck: Leher.

Selanjutnya , kita akan turun untuk mengetahui nama-nama anggota tubuh bagian bawah leher. Berikut list-nya: Shoulder: Pundak, Chest: Dada, Breast: Payud*ra, Stomach/Belly/Tummy/Abdomen: Perut, Belly button: Pusar, Back: Punggung, Arm: Lengan, Upper Arm: Lengan atas, Forearm: Lengan bawah, Armpit: Ketiak, Elbow: Siku, Hands: Tangan, dan Waist: Pinggang.

Selanjynya setelah mengenal anggota tubuh manusia bagian body, mari kita lanjut ke bagian bawah atau lower, gengs! Berikut nama-nama body parts-nya: Hip: Panggul, Buttocks: Pantat, Groin: Kunci paha, Thigh: Paha, Leg: Kaki, Knee: Lutut, dan Calf: Betis

STS atau Sumatif Tengah Semester adalah istilah untuk kegiatan asesmen sumatif pada kurikulum merdeka. Hasil asesmen sumatif digunakan untuk mengukur pencapaian hasil belajar peserta didik, mengukur konsep dan pemahaman peserta didik, serta mendorong untuk melakukan aksi dalam mencapai kompetensi yang dituju.
